Where you will come across DEB
DEB stands for Distance Education Bureau, and in Indian education it appears most often in body contexts — admission notices, university prospectuses, eligibility clauses and recruitment advertisements. DEB is the UGC wing that recognises and regulates open and distance learning (ODL) and online education programs in India. Because abbreviations are reused across sectors, always read DEB in the context of the document you are holding: the same letters can carry a different expansion in a banking notification than in a university circular.

Before you build a plan around DEB, compare at least two or three universities or employers on cost, recognition and outcomes — the abbreviation itself is only a label, and the value comes from where and how you earn it.
