FAQs
How is CGPA calculated from SGPA?
Most universities use a credit-weighted average: CGPA = Σ(SGPA × credits) / Σ(credits). Some use a simple average of all semester SGPAs. The exact formula is published in your university handbook.
Is the same formula valid for all universities?
No. AKTU, VTU, Anna University, MAKAUT and GTU each publish their own SGPA→CGPA and CGPA→Percentage formulas. This tool supports the most common ones — for any other university, refer to the official academic handbook.
Why does CGPA × 10 give a different percentage at different universities?
Each university calibrates its grading bands differently. VTU subtracts 0.75, AKTU subtracts 7.5 after multiplication, Anna multiplies directly. Always use your own university's published formula on transcripts.
