How the Days Calculator Works

The calculator subtracts the earlier date from the later date using UTC milliseconds, then divides by 86,400,000 (the number of milliseconds in a day). The years/months/days breakdown is computed by walking forward month-by-month so leap years and varying month lengths are handled correctly.

How do I calculate days between two dates?

Enter both dates in the converter above. It subtracts the earlier date from the later one and shows the total days, plus the breakdown in weeks, months and years.

Does this count the start and end date?

By default the calculator gives the difference in days (end − start). If you need inclusive counting, add 1 day to the result.

Does it account for leap years?

Yes. JavaScript's Date object handles leap years automatically, so February 29 is counted correctly in any date range that includes a leap year.

What is the difference between calendar days and working days?

This tool counts all calendar days, including weekends. To get working days, subtract the weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) that fall within the range.

Can I use this for age calculation?
