FAQs
How is age calculated for government job eligibility?
Age is calculated as on the cut-off date mentioned in the official notification (usually August 1 or January 1 of the recruitment year). Use that exact cut-off date — not today's date — for final eligibility.
Do age relaxations stack?
Yes within statutory limits — for example, an OBC-PwD candidate gets OBC relaxation + PwD relaxation. Maximum cumulative relaxation is capped by the notification (often 10 years for non-reserved age groups).
Is the age limit different for each Govt exam?
Yes. NDA accepts 16.5-19.5 years; UPSC CSE 21-32; SSC CHSL 18-27; IBPS PO 20-30. Always read the official notification — limits can change year to year.
