    DigiLocker Certificate Verifier

Verify any UGC-recognised degree or certificate using the official DigiLocker portal. This guide tells you exactly what to click — we do not store or process your documents.

We are not an authority. Only the issuing university (via DigiLocker) and UGC can authoritatively verify a degree. This is a guide to the official process.

    5-step verification process

    1. Sign in to DigiLocker with your Aadhaar number and OTP.
    2. Click 'Issued Documents' → search for your university name.
    3. Click 'Get Now' to pull the e-degree directly from the university's signed repository.
    4. Open the certificate — verify the digital signature panel (Adobe Reader shows a green tick for valid e-signs).
    5. Cross-check the university on ugc.gov.in → 'List of Recognised Universities' to confirm UGC recognition.

Red flags of a fake certificate

    • University is NOT on the UGC recognised list at ugc.gov.in.
    • No QR code, or QR code does not resolve to a govt domain (digilocker.gov.in / .nic.in / .gov.in).
    • Document is not available on DigiLocker even though the university claims it is.
    • Spelling errors in seal / vice-chancellor signature / convocation date.
    • University appears on the UGC "Fake Universities" list — check ugc.gov.in/fakeuni.aspx.

    FAQs

How do I verify a UGC degree certificate?

Verify it on DigiLocker (digilocker.gov.in) which fetches your degree directly from the issuing university's signed digital store. You can also cross-check the university's UGC recognition on ugc.gov.in.

Is a DigiLocker e-certificate legally valid?

Yes — per the IT Act, 2000 and the DigiLocker Rules under the Information Technology (Preservation and Retention of Information by Intermediaries Providing Digital Locker Facilities) Rules 2016, e-documents in DigiLocker are at par with physical originals for all govt and education purposes.

How can I detect a fake university certificate?

Three checks: (1) Open DigiLocker — if the issuing university uploads to DigiLocker, the original is fetchable. (2) Verify the university name on UGC's recognised list at ugc.gov.in. (3) Verify the QR code / digital signature using a QR scanner — fakes typically lack a verifiable QR.
